Regional Representatives and Alternates Qualifications and Responsibilities
- Be an active member of a local or statewide self-advocacy organization for at least two (2) years and you will continue that participation
Have funding arranged for your participation in 16 Board Meetings during your four year term. This is approximately, $20,000-$25,000 per person for the four years you serve as representative. If you have a support person the cost will be more.
Expectations include:
- Develop contacts within your region
- Contact other states within your region to find out what they are doing. This information will be used for SABE Regional Reports
- Work cooperatively together with other regional representatives and regional alternates to inform them of SABE activities and include them in SABE committee activities as appropriate
- Cooperatively host Regional meetings
- Take information back from Board meetings and Conferences and share it within your region
- Actively and appropriately participate at SABE meetings, SABE committee meetings, and SABE activities.
- Attend the SABE Board Meeting. Alternates should be prepared to fill in when needed
